IN THE GARDEN

A garden is where the history of God and the human family begins. It was a wonderful garden set up to give our first parents all they needed and their occupation-they were to care for the garden. We hear in the second story of creation, chapter 2 of Genesis, that God would come in the breezy and cool part of the day to stroll with our first parents through the garden. God has always blessed garden spots and is close to us in the surroundings of a garden.

Our first ancestors lost the garden; it was in a garden that Christ spent his last night on earth. A garden is where life grows and blooms.; it is a sign of what God provides and our diligent cooperation with God to make it grow and become life giving.

We are remarkably blessed by the gardens around our parish. Shade gardens where we can sit in quiet comfort, a rose garden that memorializes our loved ones, the patio garden right off the entrance to the church which invites us to visit with each other, and now the new patio garden just beside the Office Center with its gurgling fountain, roses and other beautiful plans, plus the tables and chairs that invite us to sit, stay awhile, relax and renew yourself to be refreshed by the beauty.

We even have a garden that provides food for the poor, our vegetable garden. The labors of our Grounds Beautification Ministry has given us this wonderful gift in nature, to pray quietly, to cultivate nourishment and to build friendships. Please utilize our grounds to deepen your spiritual life through prayer, building community through conversation, or feeding the poor.

The gardens are a blessing. Take time and be blessed.
